I say illegal because it looks like an R34. M aybe they did it legally, but the Florida plate was what prompted my suspicion, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Saw it in the parking garage of my girlfriends soon to be former apartment.

A sedan too! Not many four doors are imported. This GTR I saw recently was also likely illegal. Beautiful cars though.

I don’t think there is anyway to get an R34 in the states legally. I’ve heard even the show car loophole doesn’t even work with them and other popular illegals like defenders etc...
I don’t know enough about these, but to my eye this looks like it could be a really well done “conversion”. The way that front bumper sits away from those wheels looks, uh aftermarket.
However I couldn’t tell ya what car it was based on if it is a conversion. I’m eager to hear a take from someone who’s really educated on these.
Can’t see from the pics. Is the driver on the right or left?

there were a few that were brought in by motorex that the gov basically went: okay, its not your fault, you can keep them. BUT NO MORE.

The original motorex cars from the early 00s are legal, but to my knowledge none of those included sedans.
Looks like this one is indeed just a black market import. It’s definitely a conversion in the sense that there were no GT-R R34 sedans, which is why it looks so wonky. R33 to R34 conversions are common, but looking at the doors and rear quarter panels that’s definitely an R34 sedan that’s just gotten GT-R fascias (of questionable fit and finish).
Either imported directly to Florida where you can title anything on wheels, or maybe made its way down from Canada at some point.

Couldn’t tell if it’s a conversion either. The steering wheel is on the right side of the car, so it’s more than likely at least a RHD import. What the imported car is, I’m not sure.

I believe the R34 V-Spec Nur is eligible for Show and Display, but this isn’t one of those. And like everyone else has said, a couple of the Motorex GT-Rs are legal so long as you have the slip of paper the government gave saying that basically they fucked up.

This is why Seattle is fun. We are right next to Canada.
My old boss was Canadian but lived down here. He’d keep his R34 with his family up in Vancouver, but every once in a while he’d bring it down to Seattle and make us all drool.

Someone whined at me once for suggesting that Florida plates are linked to private import shenanigans. I wonder how the system even works in that second world quality slice of America - do they just take the owner’s word for everything?

I ran the CarFax app on the plate. Nothing for Florida and BOOST, but Florida and B00ST (zeroes instead of o’s ) says it’s a 2018 Infiniti Q50. So yes, likely illegal.

Just used the VIN to register the car. Or at least that’s what I got from the plate.
